this is unironically perfect for a college project im doing. one of the sections for a mood board i need to make is, and im not making this up. "orange dating sim" and this is the first result from google (via reddit post). so i thank you for making this. i am now able to finish a mood board section.
Hello Kwatar, Speaking as a Misty fan, great game so far. I just wanted to ask that if you're working on this by yourself, I could help you out in the development (considering I am pretty good at coding and okay in Pixel art). lmk but thanks anyway
Hello Arilens, thanks for comment! I am actually working on this myself, although I am realizing extra help might help make the game better. Anyhow, since you and others have asked, I've gone ahead and thrown together a survey for anyone who might be interested:
Thanks for the fast response, I completed the survey (don't mind the username). Just saying, I have made rom hacks in the past, but I only released one, which is present in the form. Also, I live down under, but I travel to the US quite a bit for my job.
Awesome, and that sounds like great experience! The response has shown up. I'll try reaching out to you sometime this week when I have a bit of free time and get some stuff in order (the project is arranged in a mess right now but its a mess I understand but I should arrange it for others). Thanks once more for taking the initative on this!
Hey Kwatar, long time no see! I wanted to know if you have any plans of implementing a way to carry over a save file from the demo to the full game once it's out? I wanted to replay the game, but i wanted to know if i should just wait for the full release. Thanks and good luck on the game!!
Digaum! Welcome back to the game page! Presently, the plan is to have an option to start after the dem for old players where they can set some preferences (e.g. dating favorites), since the game does not save after Tracey (e.g., you start post-Tracey, maybe with level 30 pokes). Although, that might change depending on how much data I can scrap from the demo. Unfortunately, I am a moron and did not systemize the date mechanics prior. But, I think with my somewhat advanced coding skill I could just cobble together a Tracey skip?
Anyhow, you won't have to re-fight Tracey with whatever you do (I know that's everyone's favorite battle) and there will be the option to set your moves and at least preserve dating answers. But, you might not be able to keep your Clefairys' levels.
Hey again, thanks for replying so quickly! I see and i appreciate you doing this in the first place, but I'm afraid i'll miss out on new easter eggs, side quests or something of the sort by starting from where i left off, so if you're sure, do you think you're generally done adding new content to the demo, and if you do add something new, that it would be something like quality of life features, visual enhancements, fixing grammar errors, etc?
Sorry for a bit of a delayed reply, but thank you so much! I am working hard to keep upping the ante (and am putting in an old anime character right now to date) so hopefully the final product does not dissappoint!
like, not just chuckled, but actually laughed out loud a few times, and i'm usually a pretty hard audience when it comes to humour, so that's a big +1 from me!
a lot better and more detailed than i ever expected tbh, i'm glad i stumbled on this.
definitely keeping an eye out for the full version.
My apologies for the delayed response, but I'm glad it surpassed expectations! I spend a lot of time sometimes working on some jokes but only some of the time (I have phoned in some scenery dialogue recently...). That said, thanks sincerely for playing and leaving such a thoughtful comment and I hope I can continue to surprise your expectations in a good way!
I've played the demo almost a year ago, and I really fell in love with that project! Everything about this game seems so promising and passionate (Not to mention the hidden stuff you've added if the player tries to cheat in many occasions, those really caught me off-guard haha, well done!), I'm really looking forward to playing the full version when it comes out!
As someone who's also developing a big rpgm project for years, I'm well-aware of how much time-consuming it may get; So, from the bottom of my heart, I wish you the best!
Thank you so much for this thoughtful post! It's nice to just hear confirmations of the little Easter eggs (I never quite know how many people are going to check on the dev stuff, haha). But it's nice to hear someone empathize with how these projects can just expand (I originally wanted to finish the whole game in a year and that did not happen but I'm in too deep now!). Thanks for sincerely coming back to comment and best of luck with your own project as well!
This game was an absolute blast. I can't remember the last time I laughed this much, even at the deliberately inconvenient parts of the game (especially the inconvenient parts). Special shout-out to the fight during the second Joy date, which I will be using to encourage people to play this game from here-on out. There were so many little things to interact with, too -- I can't tell you how long I spent just examining the environmental bits. This game has charm, it's got polish, it's got weirdly good music, it's got spooks (of all things), and I'm currently about to replay it just to see some of the stellar dialogue I missed. It's that good. Seriously, well done.
Very glad to hear you thoroughly enjoyed it and thank you for the wonderful comment! I put special attention to all those aspects so it's great to hear them specifically emphasized (and, I'm only improving their quality more for the final release, so hopefully it'll be even better). Thanks so much once again, this will be a great encouragement when I'm lamenting having to think of new alt text for refrigerators, haha.
Hey, any chance of you uploading any image files or artworks, suitable for Steam grids?
I import all my games into Playnite (open-source frontend for every game store), using the Steam guidelines: 600x900 for thumbnails (600x800 when using a platform banner), 1920x620 for background image, whatever for logo/icon. See, for example, www.steamgriddb.com.
The three images used for the wallpaper loop here would be perfect for an icon, for example.
Hey, thanks for the suggestion and sorry for the delay! I'll take a look into this one night and definitely at least try to get something for the full release if not sooner!
Thanks for commenting! Finishing the full game just for Misty is already eating up a vast amount of my free time so I probably won't try anything new after this. That said, I do plan on having Dawn show up briefly at one point although most of the full game will be centered around Gen 1 characters for plot purposes.
Davids thank you for your support! Actually I originally used the "Wrong Number Song" for the cellphone but realized I wanted the game to be distinct even though I loved Underrune and Deltatale.
lol. also i got an idea: you can add a "trinket" of a misty plushie, which increases one random stat by 30% (the stat changes every battle). the trinket can be used on one pokemon from your team and can be switched anytime (including battles). Heres the dialouge that shows when used the trinket in battle: "with the power of determination, ___ was increased by 30%!" (yes, underrune reference) pls add this, i will be very glad since i watched so much of the pokemon anime, that i dream about misty dating me (yes for real) also makew the design be something like the dandys plush from dandys world but replace dandy, as i like to call him: baldicus dandicus dancifier to misty (sorry for yapping bro) the plush that i want u to redesign for the trinket:
Thank you for your excitement! But the game's not updated yet and won't be for another couple years. It's an update on how my development on the full game is going, not an update to the current game. Sorry for the confusion!
are there any socials I can follow you on to get updates on the finished game or other projects? also which rpg maker/what plugins did you use for the game?
Thanks so much for your supportive comment (and rating)! Generally, I blast an update here on Itch every few months, which you should receive in your email registered to your account as I send them out. I do have a personal X account (x.com/kwatarkwatar) although I've been too shy to start yelling things into the void.
For the engine, I'm using RPG Maker XP with Pokemon Essentials v. 20. This has its pluses and minuses- on the one hand, if you want to make a very basic Pokemon game and not go far beyond the base RPG Maker Engine, it's good. But if you want to change a lot of stuff, you have to learn a bit of Ruby and also learn the Essentials system which is not designed to be messed with easily and not particularly well documented internally. Yet, there's a lot of plugins to fool with and learning Ruby is good and will make people think you're a web developer so it's not too bad although you don't want to say "I'm make misssistty game" if it comes up in a job interview.
Do you intend to create a discord or other medium through which fans may interact?
Other than that, the demo is extremely well made and the attention to detail is fun to explore. I look forward to seeing where the game goes, and if you ever seek fan funding I'd be there the moment I catch wind of it.
Hey! Sorry sincerely for the delayed reply. I got exhausted over the holidays and am just now catching up. Thanks so much for your detailed support in both this post and your review (notably, the vote of confidence on the timeline, which is just nice to see someone else realize). I'm rounding the halfway point this month and I'm considering restructuring the project going forward. So, I am thinking about the Discord option along with some other things. I'll keep you all posted on any developments in the updates. Fan funding though will still be a no-go and I'm otherwise at a point where I don't need it, so I'm just going to avoid that hassle. Although, I do greatly appreciate the offer!
Anyway, thanks once more for your detailed and thoughtful comments and support.

That is a hilarious happenstance and thank you for letting me know, haha. I hope your professor and other classmates enjoy, if they so see this.

This is amazing. As a Pokémon and Misty fan, I absolutely love this game and I am totally invested.
It is hilarious and full of clever references. Also, I love how it makes fun of the poor choices the anime's director and producers have made lol.
rly can't wait to see it finished!!!!!! Looks very very promising
Sorry for a bit of a delayed reply, but thank you so much! I am working hard to keep upping the ante (and am putting in an old anime character right now to date) so hopefully the final product does not dissappoint!
I laughed.

How does one go about cheating in this game?
I've searched for the usual debug mode, but came up dry.
i cant download it :(
Guys can somebody help me? My game crashes when Gary arrives and give me the name :(
Vegito, I am nine months late. But, the game should now work on Android if you redownload! Sorry sincerely for the delay!
He might be de-
Android port please
You can play on android actually. Use JoiPlay
Really? So do I just buy n install it or what's your instructions?
*edit* The game works on Android via Joiplay now!

Are there any Plans to recreate this Game with other Pokegirls (e.g., Lillie, Serena, Dawn, and so on)?
Thanks for commenting! Finishing the full game just for Misty is already eating up a vast amount of my free time so I probably won't try anything new after this. I replaced garys theme with rude buster from deltarune lol

Any chance on a mobile version?
Thanks for the interest! While the demo will not have a mobile version, I'm planning the final game to be mobile compatible.
Sorry for the delay, there is now a mobile version compatible with Joiplay!
so i assume in this game we won't ever actually hook up with someone right?
Psst... You didn't hear it from me... But word on the street is that Misty will marry whoever beats her before the end of the game.
oh yeah boy, a new update just dropped (i havent played it yet since i am writing this while it downloads but i am gonna do it as soon as possible)
Thank you for your excitement! But the game's not updated yet and won't be for another couple years. It's an update on how my development on the full game is going, not an update to the current game. Sorry for the confusion!

sex update when
hey will ash ever get with someone in the game or be forever alone?
Hello this game is very funny I saw a video about it by a yotuber called SuperO4LIVE and I wanted to try it hopefully it comes out in Spanish.
