Thanks for commenting! Finishing the full game just for Misty is already eating up a vast amount of my free time so I probably won't try anything new after this. That said, I do plan on having Dawn show up briefly at one point although most of the full game will be centered around Gen 1 characters for plot purposes.
Davids thank you for your support! Actually I originally used the "Wrong Number Song" for the cellphone but realized I wanted the game to be distinct even though I loved Underrune and Deltatale.
lol. also i got an idea: you can add a "trinket" of a misty plushie, which increases one random stat by 30% (the stat changes every battle). the trinket can be used on one pokemon from your team and can be switched anytime (including battles). Heres the dialouge that shows when used the trinket in battle: "with the power of determination, ___ was increased by 30%!" (yes, underrune reference) pls add this, i will be very glad since i watched so much of the pokemon anime, that i dream about misty dating me (yes for real) also makew the design be something like the dandys plush from dandys world but replace dandy, as i like to call him: baldicus dandicus dancifier to misty (sorry for yapping bro) the plush that i want u to redesign for the trinket:
Thank you for your excitement! But the game's not updated yet and won't be for another couple years. It's an update on how my development on the full game is going, not an update to the current game. Sorry for the confusion!
are there any socials I can follow you on to get updates on the finished game or other projects? also which rpg maker/what plugins did you use for the game?
Thanks so much for your supportive comment (and rating)! Generally, I blast an update here on Itch every few months, which you should receive in your email registered to your account as I send them out. I do have a personal X account (x.com/kwatarkwatar) although I've been too shy to start yelling things into the void.
For the engine, I'm using RPG Maker XP with Pokemon Essentials v. 20. This has its pluses and minuses- on the one hand, if you want to make a very basic Pokemon game and not go far beyond the base RPG Maker Engine, it's good. But if you want to change a lot of stuff, you have to learn a bit of Ruby and also learn the Essentials system which is not designed to be messed with easily and not particularly well documented internally. Yet, there's a lot of plugins to fool with and learning Ruby is good and will make people think you're a web developer so it's not too bad although you don't want to say "I'm make misssistty game" if it comes up in a job interview.
Do you intend to create a discord or other medium through which fans may interact?
Other than that, the demo is extremely well made and the attention to detail is fun to explore. I look forward to seeing where the game goes, and if you ever seek fan funding I'd be there the moment I catch wind of it.
Hey! Sorry sincerely for the delayed reply. I got exhausted over the holidays and am just now catching up. Thanks so much for your detailed support in both this post and your review (notably, the vote of confidence on the timeline, which is just nice to see someone else realize). I'm rounding the halfway point this month and I'm considering restructuring the project going forward. So, I am thinking about the Discord option along with some other things. I'll keep you all posted on any developments in the updates. Fan funding though will still be a no-go and I'm otherwise at a point where I don't need it, so I'm just going to avoid that hassle. Although, I do greatly appreciate the offer!
Anyway, thanks once more for your detailed and thoughtful comments and support.
Creator here! I noticed a lot of people are getting directed here today. Would anyone of you mind letting me know from where? Thanks everyone for playing!
2: do u plan adding all 8 gym leader battles? (I was gonna say 7 cause misty is pretty much gonna be the final boss but no)
3: how long will the final game be?
4: if u decided to add all 8 gym battles, would u have to do something in the map and lore so the player goes from pewter to vermilion instead of pewter to cerulean or something like that?
5: will pokeballs ever appear?
6: whats the song that plays on route 1?
7: why is misty orange?
8: is there a reason for ash being obsessed with misty?
Snowy, this isn't just a few questions. It's at least two handfuls or two thirds of a baker's dozen! But I love them all so I will answer them some.
Full version will hopefully be released in under two and a half years. I'm reaching a deadline that I'll probably make so I think I'm on time? The final game is planned to be around 7.5 hours (so, basically three demos, including the demo content). So you'll get an extra 5 hours of content. I can't comment on gyms or Pokeballs though so we'll seeeeeee
Also Route 1 is Cotton Island from Plok.
)
I'm pretty sure Misty has carotenemia from eating too many carrots, explaining the orange color. And, Ash's obsession is an inference from an old Japanese trailer for the first Pokemon Movie where an older Misty is shown with another lady and a child. The child and the lady were designed to represent some artists, with the lady appearing in the movie but not having a child. Anyway, this led to the reasonable speculation that the child was supposed to belong to the older Misty via Ash. Nintendo later denied this, but instead of saying it wasn't Misty's child they denied that Misty was Misty in the trailer, which funnily enough seemed to be an admission that the child belonged to the orange-haired woman who definitely isn't Misty even though she looks exactly like Misty and has the same fashion sense. Basically, it seems like Nintendo shifted characters' destinies and axed Misty (which they later admitted doing in another context) so Ash could continue the Pokemon anime and run off with May, Dawn, etc.
Thanks for the comment and review! Yeah, haha, I forgot to change the name of the town in the code. It's fixed for the full game going forward, though, as are some other minor issues!
This is genuinely good! I went into it expecting something small to poke at the reason they cut Misty, but got a preposterous amount of quality in it's writing, gameplay and even technical aspects which shows this is actually quite a labor of love! It perfectly encapsulates the dumbness behind the reason for the rotation of female (:P) characters and internet/streaming culture. Looking forward to seeing more of this!
Thanks so much for this kind review and your rating! Yeah, I've put way more effort than initially anticipated, haha, but working with and poking fun at things that are dumb is fun and I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed it! Thanks once again!
So I tried to use joiplay to play this but it froze during the first battle hell it didn't even start the battle so I'm hoping a android version of the demo will be released so that those who do have computer's/ laptop's can enjoy it too PS please add mimikyu
Thank you for the comment! Yeah, the final release of the game will be Android compatible but the demo currently is for Windows only. I'm pretty certain I know what the issue is but it's giant mess to clean up and at present I cannot go back and patch the demo without jeopardizing the finishing the final game because I'm on a tight timeline (and, joiplay may fix the issue in a later patch in the meantime anyway). But, I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure the final game is indeed Android compatible.
This is the very first fan game I want to play buuuutt I'm completely new to this! I have a Chromebook and I downloaded the zip file I'm just unaware of where to go from here. If anybody would be willing to help please do.
I apologize for the late response! Itch ate this comment up in the filter and I just approved it.
I personally do not have a Chromebook (yet). So, this is all guessing from my end (so be careful). That said, I found a tutorial that installs RPG Maker XP, through which you can use to play the game. If you open RPG Maker XP and start a new project, you can then close RPG Maker XP and go to your new project's folder. Take the file Game.rxproj in your project and copy-paste it into the Misty Orange game folder. Now, open Game.rxproj directly from the Misty Orange folder and this game should open up in RPG Maker XP. Then, just run Misty Orange from RPG Maker XP directly.
Here's the guy that has a tutorial on installing RPG Maker on a Chromebook.
Alternatively, that content creator also has guides for installing other Windows-based software on Chromebook (in his latest videos) that might also work for Misty Orange.
That all said, I'm not familiar with Chromebook, so I'd suggest being careful none-the-less because you don't want to brick anything over a game. But, that's my guess at least? I hope this helps!
There will be no purchase and I will make no profit ever on this, haha. For estimated timeframe, the goal is April 2027, which is three years from the original demo release date (and just under two and a half years from now). So yeah, it'll be a while. But, it'll be good when it's done.
The cool matey who made this game told me the final version will be comparable with Android version I'm so glad brah can't wait to play this masterpiece

Are there any Plans to recreate this Game with other Pokegirls (e.g., Lillie, Serena, Dawn, and so on)?
Thanks for commenting! Finishing the full game just for Misty is already eating up a vast amount of my free time so I probably won't try anything new after this. I replaced garys theme with rude buster from deltarune lol

Any chance on a mobile version?
Thanks for the interest! While the demo will not have a mobile version, I'm planning the final game to be mobile compatible.
so i assume in this game we won't ever actually hook up with someone right?
Psst... You didn't hear it from me... But word on the street is that Misty will marry whoever beats her before the end of the game.
oh yeah boy, a new update just dropped (i havent played it yet since i am writing this while it downloads but i am gonna do it as soon as possible)
Thank you for your excitement! But the game's not updated yet and won't be for another couple years. It's an update on how my development on the full game is going, not an update to the current game. Sorry for the confusion!
ohh ok.

sex update when
hey will ash ever get with someone in the game or be forever alone?
Hello this game is very funny I saw a video about it by a yotuber called SuperO4LIVE and I wanted to try it hopefully it comes out in Spanish.
Estara en spanish??
¡Hola! Mi español no es bueno pero si alguien quiere traducirlo por su cuenta, con gusto lo publicaré y le daré crédito.
Creator here! I noticed a lot of people are getting directed here today. Would anyone of you mind letting me know from where? Thanks everyone for playing!
In my case, I come from a tiktok video in Spanish, from the user SuperO 4
¡Gracias! I would never have found that on my own so I will check it out!

Anyhow, thanks for posting and playing!
